I really don't know. I never watch politics on TV or listen to them. I never know who's doing what and I hear people say they change their minds all the time. So could someone give me a list or something of what the differences are between these 2 parties?

  1. There's not much difference between them, really, they're all mainstream politicians.  Try some of the other parties for real differences.

  2. Morgaine basically laid it out, I would give my vote for best answer Morgaine's way but, adding on to that.

Democrats believe that, if  a certain percent of the population can't take of themselves, then  the whole population, except the upper 1% can't.

Me and my family are middle class and do just fine.

Republicans believe that the 2 main things the government should be concerned about is National Security and the Economy.

Otherwise, they let the private sector, whom does a finer job then the government does, deal with other problems.

Government intervention is needed from time to time, but total is pushing it.

Democrats believe in open borders and giving benefits to illegal aliens.

Republicans believe in strong borders and keeping jobs in the hands of taxpaying americans.

  3. There really aren't any. It used to be said that the Democrats were conservative and for the poor and the Republicans were the Tax and Spend and for the rich. That isn't true any more. I'm a Republican, but haven't voted a streight ticket (everyone thats running on a certain partys line Rep. or Dem.) since the first time I voted in 1950. You have to pay attentino to what they're saying, and how they voted on things in the Congress and Senate, what the issues are do they want the things you want and have they got a way to achieve those things without it costing YOU a fortune. You must also remember that Congressmen and Senatores, even if they only serve one term, are paid for life, have medical care, and other benefits. They, not all, but a lot of them, don't care how much they cost you. They're in it for greed and ego. Big time ego. Know your candidates. You won't completely agree with them every time, but they'll think like you do most of the time. A candidate won't be able to keep all his camppaign promises, because he's never been in Office  at that capacity before. There are a lot of things that the President knows that we don't and shouldn't. The new President will find out these things when he gets in office. Pres. Bush has been blamed for a lot of things that wern't under his control or he inherited.  He had to have the OK from Congress and the Senate to do anything. except veto a bill and that veto could be over ridden by the Congress and Senate. It's called "Checks and Balances". Thats why a Rep. Pres wants a Rep. Congress and Senate and a Dem wants a Dem. Congress and Senate.Good Luck

  4. Well, at one time there used to be a difference that REALLY mattered.  However, in the past few decades there has been a lot of changes in how the politicians represent their parties.  This is a summary of the typical agenda of today's version of the two major parties.  I will leave out the propaganda that both sides like to add and stick to the direct facts.

Democrats are the Liberal Party.  They tend to spend excessively on federal programs that are supposed to be helpful to Americans.  They believe that the government should play a bigger role in the every day lives of Americans.  They are best known for adding and raising taxes so that the burden of paying for the programs they create falls on the citizens, instead of the federal budget. Democrats usually focus their campaign on issues such as civil rights, health care, welfare.

Republicans are the conservative party.  They believe in less spending, and less government involvement in our lives- and they are known for lowering taxes.  The Republicans believe that people should rely on themselves, or local and state programs that are already existent for assistance (welfare) and that health care should be provided by employers.  They believe that by giving relief to the big corporations, they can keep costs down and make for a more prosperous America.  Republicans usually campaign on issues such as the right to bear arms, conservative living without government intrusion and lower taxes.

However, there is not much difference in the two parties anymore as Democrats refuse to quench their spending habits as they create government programs and services, which they will in turn tax us to fund- even if there are already numerous programs already set up for the same things.  Instead of discontinuing the taxes they charge us for these defunct (non-working) programs, they just tax us more to cover the funds we have already paid that they squander.  Democrats today believe that raising taxes more and more is the answer to our problems, while most of them do not have to contribute themselves.

Republicans are no longer conservative.  Instead of Republicans spending our money on programs, they allow the corporations to take advantage of tax breaks as they grow and gain more wealth.  When the time comes that the corporations are supposed to fulfill their tax obligations, the Republicans allows them to bail on their agreement- through relocation (usually to different countries) or bankruptcy and either start a new agreement, or be freed of the original obligation completely.  The Republican offsets the loss in revenue, by taking the citizens ability to file bankruptcy away, forcing them to bail themselves out when they go into debt.  Even though the Republicans do not typically raise taxes, they do allow the corporations and banks to gouge our wallets by removing all restrictions on monopolies, interest and false reports of lower inflation.  The new Republican party (neo-cons) allows our country to be governed by the banks and corporations.  This, in turn, makes them a big government party as well.

If you were to track the records of promises delivered for both parties, the Republicans deliver more on the things they promise in their campaigns.  However, Democrats have a tendency of making a LOT more promises to get elected, so it pretty much balances out.

The best thing that Americans could do for this country, would be to research ALL of the political parties, and stop expecting either Republicans OR Democrats to deliver on what the average American wants and needs from the government.  The majority of the 2 parties mentioned above, are made up of career politicians that have completely lost touch with what it is like to be an average citizen in this country.  Until we make the move to give ourselves more choices to look at every election, we will forever be losing our freedom and liberty- more and more as time goes by- meanwhile they will continue to secure their own wealth and power, with little or no regard to what is best for America and its citizens.

  5. Gee, I wonder who morganie III votes for.

  6. Republicans want to overthrow democracy through ownership of everything and then they want to starve and roll back the clock to the early 1900's and use kids to grease the machines while they are still running.

Google "sweatshops" and "Child Labor" That's the republican view of paradise. - You're the one inside the machine while it's running.

Democrats want all people to prosper and stay together as a united country.

    Take your pick.

It can ONLY be one or the other now.

  7. Democrats are for bigger government programs, higher taxes, and more government regulation of your life.

Republicans are for smaller programs, privitizing charity, healthcare, etc., lowering taxes, and getting government out of your life!

Democrats see people as demographic groups (all black people vote the same)  and they believe in giving out handouts to people instead of inspiring them to rise above their circumstances.

Republicans see people as individuals and believe that people get ahead in this world based on their effort and merit.

Democrats believe women have the right to kill the baby in their womb if they don't feel like taking care of it or giving it up for adoption.

Republicans believe women have the responsibility to care for the baby they have made, or at least give the child to a family that wants to adopt and care for it.
