What are the differences between Wholesaler and Retailer's activities?

and could a retailer 'modify' products they buy from wholesalers? please explain, thank you.

  1. Pretty much similar, except that wholesaler normally have direct contract/ contacts with the manufacturer as they sometimes serve as an agent/ sole agent of a particular brand/ product of the manufacturer. The target customer is also different. Wholesaler sells to retailers, while retailers sells direct to end user/ consumer.

    Modification of products may depends on the agreement between the wholesaler & the manufacturer. Some may allow you to do repackaging, some may even allow you to put in your own local brands, some may not even allow you to do any changes to it.
