What are the good points of 64bit?? and what are it's shortcomings?

  1. The 32/64 bit refers to the size of the numbers that the processor natively operates on. So basically how big the numbers the processor handles.

    1. A larger memory space can be addressed by the OS. 32 bit Windows is restricted to 3G - in time that will become a significant failing, and people will switch to 64 hence.

    2. The programs themselves can manipulate more accurate and larger numbers, this is really only important in serious scientific type applications, say like weather prediction.

    For practical purposes though, 64 bit Windows does not currently support much of the software that is out there which has been written for 32 bit Windows, in particular device drivers and system software. For that reason as a home user you should use 32 bit Windows for now.


  2. 64-bit is betetr (but, put it on 64-bit machine) because it does larger calculations, better for programs..etc but, VISTA IS c**p anyway :P
