  1. Anthropology is divided into four subcategories. It includes Linguistics- the study of languages, Physical Anthropology-biological studies, primates, evolution, genetics etc, Archaeology- the study of human material culture and Cultural Anthropology which is most like sociology. In my opinion, sociologists tends to focus attention or modern day human cultures where as anthropologists research both present and past cultures.  So it depends where in anthropology your interest lies whether there is a major difference between the two.
