  1. Tortoises live on land, and have legs. Turtles live in the ocean and have flippers. Terrapins live in or around fresh water, and have webbed feet.

  2. a tortoise is mostly a land animal...a turtle mostly a marine or aquatic...and a terrapin is half-half...both land and aquatic...

    its most obvious in the turtles as they have flippers for swimming...
