  2. Hitmen : A business man that kills someone for money. Nothing personal.

Serial Killers: People that take up killing as a hobby because they like it.

Mass Murderers : People that orders the killing of many. Usually for incrementing political power.

  3. Hit men are paid to kill other people, and the motive is financial, not malicious for personal reasons.

Serial killers tend to be classified as individuals who kill three or more victims over a period of time with a break in between each murder.  They also tend to do it to fulfill some sort of psychological need such as power or sexual gratification.

Mass murderers are those who kill multiple people during one explosive episode, such as Columbine or various workplace shootings or those that take place in public.  The violence is randomly focused on multiple individuals with the intent to inflict as much harm as possible.  Most times, the killer has no intention of surviving the incident, which is why most end up committing suicide at the end.  The motives behind this are based upon extreme depression, extreme feelings of hopelessness and anger at society in general, or at a specific group that is perceived to be the source for all of their misery.
