I am looking for used clubs for my 11 yr old 4'7" son. The youth clubs available are for 7 yr olds.

  1. Don't know if you have a d**k's Sporting goods near you, but they have some (what they call) Transitional Sets made for the tween teens too big for kids clubs but too little for full on adult ones.

  2. The ladies clubs will generally be lighter and have a softer flex in the shaft allowing for good clubhead speed with less strength.

  3. Women's clubs are shorter, have smaller grips, and more flex to the shaft.  The clubs may fit an 11 year old but if he finds out they are womens clubs he may have a problem with using them.  You clearly do not want that.  They do make youth models which are different than children's models. You should do your best to find those if you want them to fit and your son to use them. Adult models will be too long and too stiff for him to play well with them.

  4. The shaft is a lot whipier(below a regular shaft) and they are usualy more forgiving(easier to hit) than mens clubs.

In my opinion u should get ur son regular clubs a little shortened and let him grow into them
