  1. Dignitaries are pompous and smug. Come to that so are some celebrities ...

  2. Dignitaries are usually people who hold an office or official position of some kind, such as "President of" or "Chair of" or "Senator", whereas celebrities are simply people who are well known for their activities (good or bad).

Celebrities can also be dignitaries (such as Nelson Mandela who is well known in the media but also has the title 'Former President'), but not necessarily (Paris Hilton is a celebrity because she is well known, but does not have an official role).

    Cheers :-)

  3. Try a dictionary.

  4. One can be both, but Celebrities are famous, not necessarily important. Dignitaries are important, but not necessarily famous.

  5. Dignitaries produce something everyonce in a blue moon.
