  1. core 2 duo is newer and considered faster for aplications and such but i would prefer dual core for gaming................

they both do what they are supposed to do differently but with similiar results

  2. These 2 do not really relate.

Dual core is any processor that has 2 cores. This can mean an AMD dual core or an Intel Dual core

Core 2 Duo is just the name for the second Core 2 series and the Duo signifies that the Core 2 Duo series are dual cores.

  3. core 2 duo is newer and faster. more efficient

  4. Dual core can refer to a processor from any brand that has two cores on one chip, ie: Intel AMD and IBM. Intels dual core model is called "core 2 duo". Intle and AMD also makes a quad core proccesor which has four cores on it. Each core is a seperate physical CPU and runs independantly but they're placed on the same chip. Intel is soon going to release an eight core proccesor.
