What are the differences of tanks

like theres freshwater,tropical,saltwater,community im really confused please explain what are the differences

Freshwater - Saltwater (marine). = Fish that live in lakes and rivers vs Fish that live in the sea. Brackish is partway between, some salt, but not full seawater. Some fish live in estuaries where salt and fresh mix naturally,.

Tropical - Coldwater = Fish from warm places (generally need a heated tank) vs Fish from temperate climate (like goldfish) that dont need a heater.

Community just describes a group of fish that can live together without eating or beating each other up. Normally means small harmless fish, but you can have a community of large more agressive fish if you choose carefully.

So you may have a Tropical / Freshwater / Community tank (most common beginner type) or a Tropical / Brackish / Agressive tank - (generally unusual things like puffer fish).

Species Tank: A tank (fresh or salt) that only houses one species or family of fish

Community Tank: An aquarium (fresh or salt) that has a mixture of all different fish

Cold water: Freshwater fish that prefer colder water (i.e. goldfish, koi, minnows)

Tropical: Freshwater fish that like water anywhere from 75-85 Fahrenheit (i.e. catfish, tetras, barbs, danios, livebearers)

Cichilids/Brackish Fish: Fish that like some salt in their water but not fully salt water (i.e. Tanganyika Cichilids, African Cichilds, some catfish)

Saltwater or Marine: Fish that live in the ocean or other salty bodies of water (i.e. clownfish, tangs, triggerfish, cardinalfish)
