  1. The main ones Catholicism, Protestantism, and Orthodoxy.

  2. I think you meant to ask:

Why are there different branches of christianity?

    Deist (former Catholic)

    : )

  3. If by branches you mean denominations, there are literally tens of thousands. Too many to list anywhere.

  4. There are many branches on the tree of ignorance.

  5. Christianity is one..there are no branches. There are denominations of Christianity....same basic belief in salvation through Jesus Christ, just different doctrines.

  6. Under Protestantism there are fundamentalists and their counterparts? (can't remember the term), there are also those who have more of a charismatic flavor (Pentecostals, etc.), high church (more formal, like Lutheran, Presbyterian, etc), low church (Baptists, etc.). There are some less mainstream groups that fit (overlappingly) into the above various groups (fundamentalist Baptists, Nazarenes, etc.), some that claim to still believe all the commandments (Seventh-day Adventists) and then some that claim to be Christians, but don't follow Christ primarily or believe that he is fully God (Mormons, Jehovah's W., etc.).

There are many ways that they can be divided up (sadly), so it depends on what info you're looking for.

  7. Main branches are Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox. Each of the last 2 have many sub-divisions.
