What are the different kind of multimedia available?

I'm looking for ideas for my students to use or create in the classroom that invloves technology.

I don't know what grade level you're working with, but almost all grade levels can use digital cameras.  You can have students use the cameras to take pictures of things in real life that illustrate something you're learning in class (I've used geometric concepts) and let them upload them to the computer.  From there they can create movies or PowerPoint presentations.  

If you've got older students, have a class period in which the only way they can communicate on a group assignment is through texting on their cell phones.  You could use one phone for each group (assuming they have phones with unlimited texting).  I haven't actually done this myself or anything, but my county's superintendent mentioned this, and I thought it was an interesting answer to the "problem" of cell phones in schools.

One thing I know a lot of people are using are GPS systems.  You can create scavenger hunts that relate to any topic and use the GPS systems to find the items.  Ask your principal if your school or district has them available, or at least has the funds to get them.
