can i connect an xbox and surround sound up to a projector? what does it need to have to do that?

Yes. Simply plug the audio (red and white) cables from the Xbox into the surround sound decoder, and plug the video (Composite, component, or s-video, whichever one you have) into the projector.

you sure can, it's a thing of beauty! as far as the different projectors check out infocus. they have different models for different budgets. Not to mention Optoma, Yamaha, BenQ, Panasonic. concerning the connections, just follow the instructions that come with the projector. most of them will have various sets of inputs/outputs for different setups. it's a piece of cake! my projector had a PS2 (component cable), dvd player (hdmi cable) and satellite TV (S cable) connected. fun stuff!
