  1. pinnate = veins extend from midrib to margin.  like a fish bone    palmate = veins radiate from base to apex and margins.  like a hand's fingers.  parallel = veins run from base along the axis to the apice (tip).  dichotomous = veins from base to margin in a "Y" pattern
