Question

types of braces? I no there are some where they go behind ur teeth and then there r kinds were u can change the band colors and where u cant. But i no someone who just uses a kinda plastic and it just goes ontop of her teeth and u dont see it.

And When they look in ur mouth to see what they need to do b4 u get ur braces, (when they take xrays) when do you actually come back for them to apply to braces?

Removable braces such as Invisalign(the plastic braces you're talking about) are taken out to eat, drink, and clean teeth.  These are nice because you'll be able to clean your mouth better, so you'll have good oral health.  Plus you can take them out for pictures.  The downside is the price, these braces are usually quite costly.  Also, you might lose them in which case it would suck to replace them.

If you've got serious issues, there are braces for the backs of your teeth.  There is a possibility your tongue will be bothered by these and if you keep sticking it in the braces it could get cut which would be painful.  I speak from experience, I had a retainer put on the backs of my teeth, but got it removed because it was so annoying.

Metal braces, are the regular kind most people have.  They can cause mouth irritation but they are more affordable.  They're decent.  You can change the band color on these.

Porcelain braces (Love these, I had them).  These are fixed braces which are clear, only the wire is metal.  In photos, you can barely tell they're there.  These are also a bit more expensive, but they lower the risk of your mouth being irritated due to the metal in normal fixed braces.  Oh, and they don't stain.  You can change the band color or you could put a clear band on them.

In the preliminary exam, they take x-rays, measurements, and pictures.  It could be several days or several weeks, it depends on you and on the braces.  Theoretically speaking, they can put the braces on as soon as they are delivered.
