Observation is information gathered through your 5 senses: what you see, hear, smell, taste, feel.  (eg: a drop of water just fell on me)

An inference is drawing on past experiences to interpret an observation. (eg: it's starting to rain)

A qualitative observation is descriptive. (eg: it is humid outside)

A quantitative observation is measurable (eg: the relative humidity is 90%)
