  1. The engineer who makes the most money is the one who develops the most useful idea or product, and then does the best job of selling or marketing it. One way that an engineer might make a lot of money is to invent something very useful, but charge very little for the license to use it. For example, consider the biochemical engineer that invented the gelatin capsule used to hold medicine in a pill. He earns only a few hundredths of a cent on each capsule sold which uses his idea, but so many companies sell so many capsules, he makes lots and lots of money.

There are electrical engineers, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, areospace engineers, systems engineers, audio engineers, and chemical engineers. There are many other types, too.

All engineers do the same thing: they try to reach a compromise between the required design and the method for implementing that design.

  2. There are many fields and sub-specialties of engineering.

The main fields / branches are: Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Computer.

There are too many sub-specialties and jobs to list.

Pay will be determined by the type of work, location, educational level, and if one is a licensed Professional Engineer.

I am schooled in Mechanical Engineering and I work in Fire Protection.

  3. Aerospace Engineering - The design of aircraft, spacecraft and related topics.

Chemical Engineering - The conversion of raw materials into usable commodities.

Civil Engineering - The design and construction of public and private works, such as infrastructure, bridges and buildings.

Electrical Engineering - The design of electrical systems, such as transformers, as well as electronic goods.

Mechanical Engineering - The design of physical or mechanical systems, such as engines, powertrains, kinematic chains and vibration isolation equipment

Too many to name and the pay depends on what country you are in, what experience you have, what company you work for, what your education is in, if you are a specialist in something, if you contract yourself out then you get more money

If you work in the mines or oil rigs they have good pay
