I already know that it is burnt in boilers for the production of steam. What are the other ways?

  1. Bagasse (sometimes spelled bagass) is the biomass remaining after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed to extract their juice (wikipedia).

burning is the only practical way to put its stored chemicals to use for energy. burnt left overs could be processed and used for something else but that's not necessarily energy.

this is a extension, but if some animal can eat it and the resulting fecal material can be gathered for its methane. and the burning of the methane could be used to make electricity.

according to wikipedia the bagasse can also used to make paper and disposable food containers as an alternative to Styrofoam
