What are the different ways to connect rca cables to eachother?

i want to make it easire on myself when wiring and unwiring my amp, (to add room in trunk) and im trying to make quick connections are there differences in the rca's you find in radio shack than in car audio stores. and if i wanted to could i connect them with a conductive metal touching each end.

  1. aside from price, the differences between radioshack RCA's and audio store ones, is material. you probably won't notice a difference between the two unless you compete where every bit helps. Audio RCA's should be shielded, gold plating helps to be more conductiv. I'm not sure about just connecting the end W/ a conductive metal.

Rca's were made to only connect to a port that was made for an RCA. there are several cords out there for a couple dollars or less at radioshack that can convert your RCA's into a different type of cord. for example you can get a cord that you plug your rca into on one side, and it gives you a headphone jack on the other. if you want to touch metal it might work, but you might as well jus use bare wires if you plan to do it that way
