  1. nice to see your taking an interest in our earth! here's how you could save electricity...

1.turn off the lights before you leave a room

2.don't leave the computer on if your not using it

3.don't leave the t.v on if your not using it

4.before turning on the air conditioning (a.c) try opening a window and see if that works (if that doesn't work, don't kill your self and just turn on the a.c!)

well these are a few ways you can save electricity, hope i helped! :)

  2. Switch off your computer !

  3. Its really important to unplug things like cell phone chargers and TVs from the wall when not in use, they are receiving what is called phantom power and it adds up. also unplug anything that has a display light on on/off light while it is not being used. As for alternative energy check with your power company to see if they offer a wind program.

  4. You can save electricity bills by using many techniques. The most efficient electricity saving come's from converting your home to a solar powered home. check http://www.greenoholic.com/earth4energy for guidance.

  5. everyone talks about "converting a home to solar power", but let's be more reasonable. The majority of the people out there in the world cannot completely convert their home to solar power.

How about some smaller things we can do. Like using indoor solar lights instead of the normal ones whenever possible. They don't require the huge investment that converting your whole home does, and they can be bought 1 or a few at a time.

Of course if you have outdoor lighting solar might just be the way to go for some of them too. They are available at most home supply stores.

Using a solar hot water system, or solar pre-heater might be an option.

Using solar battery chargers can save electricity, and if you were not using rechargeable batteries before, consider it. Though the use of rechargeable batteries will not reduce your electric bill, it will reduce the energy used to make the batteries in the first place. Also in the long run rechargeable batteries are cheaper because of re-usability.

No money at all to invest? OK try this: if you have air conditioning, turn it down a bit. Run any lights all night long? Turn them off. Keep a flashlight by your bed and use it till you get to a switch you can turn on. Use it to get back to bed.

I bet your computer's power strip has a switch on it. turning it off when the computer is off will save you some electricity.

Don't hold the fridge open while pouring a drink.

When you take a shower, make it a warm shower instead of hot.

Only run the dishwasher, washer and dryer when you can fill them full (as full as they are meant to be filled).

Have a vcr or DVD player connected that you rarely use? Disconnect it, then reconnect it when you need it. (make sure you unplug it)

Any appliance that is used rarely should be left unplugged when not in use. This includes TVs, computers, VCRs, stereos, DVD players, boom boxes, microwaves, and a whole slew of others. Most all of them use power even when turned off.

Insulate your attic, hang heavier curtains, use a blanket more in the winter time, and turn the heat down. Wear less clothes in the summer, and turn the air down.

Have a weeny roast...yup yup, instead of using the stove to cook supper, which will fight with your air conditioner and use power itself cooking on an open fire built from limbs that fell in the last storm will save you...and it can be fun!

  6. Get solar power or efficiency light bulbs.
