What are the differrences between a UPS and an AVR?

By UPS - i mean un-interruptible power supply while AVR - means Automatic Volatge Regulator

  1. A UPS maintains power to equipment in the event of a power failure.  It may do other things as well, such as act as a surge and spike filter.

    An AVR regulates the voltage to within specified limits.  It may or may not have any ability to supply power in the event of a power loss.
