What does Government mean to you? Write a one-page, double-spaced journal entry based on the following prompts:

* What is government to you? Give at least one example.

* List three items you would be willing to give up in order to gain more structure and order in society. Explain why you chose each item.

* List three items you would NOT be willing to give up in order to gain more structure and order in society. Explain why you chose each item.

What does it mean when it says "three items I would be willing to give up?"

Thanks for the help! =)

  1. wwell ask urself what does gov't mean to u? pick apart your gov't? what r some things that r wrong? what would u be willing to give up in order to change the structure of your gov't? i.e certain laws,or items in this ur country that amkes your gov't the way it is. ex. smoking, the death penalty, required this or that..replace items with issues, laws, etc.

basically for me..i would say (in short) This gov't is based upon materialistic matters. we r so focused on oil and wars that are both outside of this country, therefore taking away the focus needed on the issues inside of America, that we are forgetting how a country is supposed to be governed/ran. I would be willing to go green to help pollution, and would be willing to give up my frredom as a civilian and join the military to help fight the wars inside of our country, as well as give up driving and just ride bikes until a better oil situation is reached...

  2. i think the meaning of the three items you would be willing to give up is like..

what would you give up forever so that you get structure in society?

like I would give up my cellphone, seeing my family, or ever making money so that i could get structure in society :)

  3. I dont know either, Im actually working on that same assignment right  now. And Im stuck on the 3 items we would or wouldnt give up.

  4. When it asks you what you would be willing to give up, I believe it is referring to certain political/social freedoms to which you are accustomed...

For example (and this is hotly debated one here in the US - I am not making ANY political statements here):

Would you be willing to give up your constitutional right "to bear arms" if it meant fewer guns in the hands of civilians, with the intention of lessening gun related homicides, thus making society more orderly?

  5. Maybe this assignment just has poor word choice?? It should read "what "things" are you willing to give up..."

Just think of things that you could give up to gain more structure and order in society. Example: fast food bc it would decrease obesity levels

...or...guns bc murder rates would go down
