Make sure that you are actually going to save money by having this fake cake. The supplies may be spendy. Good luck!

  4. I made one for my wedding, although I did two practice ones first.

You buy the sizes you want.

Cover them in fondant. You can buy fondant in the craft stores these days and the directions on how it works are on there packages. There are also directions on how to colour the fondant if you want to.

I rolled the fondant out large enough to over the layer I am working on and then you smooth it out starting with the top and smoothing over the edges and around the "cake". Then you cut off the extra fondant with a very very sharp know of box cutter.

    Repeat for all tiers.

    Stack accordingly.

    Decorate accordingly.

This is just a QUICK example of how I did mine.

I figured it out on my own by watching Food Network bakers make real cakes lol. My examples have turned out STUNNING, I was even shocked lol. I am NOT artistic so I didn't make decorations out of fondant, I've used flowers and such.

  5. umm styrofoam and fondant? thats how they make fake cakes!!!!!

  6. well, my fiance and i are talking about using a styrofoam cake for our wedding. The reason for this is that... we want to use fondant and most people don't like fondant. So.... just buy the cake shaped styrofoam online or at a store. Then... you decorate it with whatever you want your cake to look like.

Im going to top mine with buttercream then put fondant over it. (purchase some Wilton ready to roll fondant, its great :) )

also, were going to have someone make really good cake and just pass it out so the guests dont leave without a good piece of cake :)
