  1. Depends on the context of where it is used. I know in the aeronautical industry they use it because its so light.

I know that it doesn't rust or corrode easily (Aluminium oxide forms an even layer on the surface).

Don't know about use in civil/building engineering.

  2. Light, flexible applications, relatively inexpensive because it is the third most common mineral.

For cooking it is not a great conductor of heat, not strong and it can pit with salt.

It makes a good baseball bat and is increasingly used for commercial and residential framework over wood..

  3. Advantages:

    1)  aluminum is light - about 1/3 the density of steel

    2)  aluminum is resistant to corrosion in most environments

    3)  aluminum is very good at conducting heat (coming in 3rd behind silver and copper, among common metals)

    4)  aluminum is abundant

    Disadvantages:

    1)  aluminum is not particularly strong - the strongest varieties are around 75,000 psi tensile strength (compared to 240,000 psi tensile strength for the strongest varieties of heat-treated steel)

    2)  aluminum is not very hard - it's easy to scratch

    3)  aluminum is more expensive than steel of the same strength

  4. Advantages of Aluminum-

It is strong enough to be made into glass frames for windows, ceilings doors andglass divider walls.

    Disdvantages-

It is not strong enough for such loads as car main frame

It is weak to be used as beams of buildings and bridges.
