What are the disadvantages of doing M.B.A through distance education or correspondence courses?

I will write about online instruction, since I am familiar with it.  There is one major disadvantage, and many advantages.  If you live ourside of the country, then it can be hard to be awake and free during office hours due to the time zone differences, and consequently, it can be difficult to have your questions answered.  On the other hand, there are numerous advantages:

(1) It is in an asynchronous environment.  Therefore, you can keep up with the work, due not have to be present in class at any particular time- so it is easier to work and attend class at the same time, or to attend class if you are too disabled to physically go to a regular classroom, or attend class while caring for another person who requires you to be with him or her a lot, for example.

(2)  If you  do not like to speak up in class, or you are intimidated by the idea of being in a large group, then this is a perfect place for you!

(3) There is no prejudice of any sort:  Since nobody can see your clothes or face, or hear your voice, there are many prejudices that your instructor and classmates will not have the opportunity to get.  And, you cannot see your classmates either, so you also will not think ill of them.  

(4) You can take a long time to do assignments if you like, as long as they are turned in by their due dates.  You can ask lots of questions in the process, and your classmates and instructor will probably give you great responses.  

(5) Business now is a high-tech affair, so with online instruction, you will probably learn state-of-the art material, in terms of current business practices in communications.

I recommend that you contact tech support before beginning the actual program, to make sure that the software and hardware you have is supported by the school or college you choose, to get the best experience.
