  1. there are no disadvantages to using the SI system unless you are trying to communicate with the American people. I'm an engineer and i live in the US and its annoying trying to explain things in metric to Americans because they use the old standard system.

and we refuse to switch for some reason!

  2. The main disadvantage is that it is not used in the US, so there may be problems between people from the US and people from the rest of the (SI using) world in understanding each other's measurements. This can also lead to problems with international projects where scientists and engineers from the US and other countries need to work together.

In itself, the SI system is simple, consistent and easy to use. Americans are crazy not to adopt it.

  3. Well no metric systems have any disadvantages unless you know how to use it properly.

It all depends upon the system which your country is using. And no need to worry we have many formulas to convert from one system to another.

    Three main systems used are

    SI, FPS and MKS.

My country uses SI system for calculations.

  4. Depends on where you live. No disadvantages at all if you live outside the US. SI system is based on decimal system, so easy to use. The whole world adapted it.

If you live in the US, you probably will not understand it and you will continue to use odd fractions to express anything smaller than unity.
