  1. I have only ever bought from ebay. READ each blurb carefully and check seller's feedback.Use paypal.Familiarise yourself with the complaints procedures.Huge variety of stuff. Some sellers are people just cleaning out their houses, others are big business. After 130 purchases I have never had something not arrive, but it can take some weeks so don't be in a hurry.Absolutely before you bid, find out from the seller how much shipping will cost, if they won't say, don't bid. Some charge extortionate shipping.Good luck.

  2. well as a buyer you don't know the quality of an item nor do you know if the item is even legit

  3. I've been buying and selling on Ebay for about 7 years now.

    As a Buyer

    DO:

    - Know exactly what you're looking for

    - Ask ANY questions before you bid

    - Check the feedback of the seller before you buy

    - Be willing to use Paypal because that's the largely accepted payment method

    - Research an item before you bid on it to make sure you know what you're buying

    - Make sure you look to see if the seller lists the item as "new" or "used"

    DON'T

    - Bid if you're not sure

    - Aren't comfortable with the seller's terms

    - Bid if the seller has a lot of negative or neutral feedback

    - Send your payment late or not pay at all

    - Bid higher than the amount you want to pay for the item. You are responsible to honor your bid if you win.

    - Bid if the seller hasn't answered your questions in a timely and professional way.

    As a Seller

    DO

    - Take clear pictures of your item

    - Describe your item to the best of your ability without being deceptive

    - Clearly outline your payment and shipping terms

    - Answer all questions

    - Ship the item promptly after you've received payment

    DON'T

    - Leave questions unanswered because sometimes buyer will bid and win and then decide they don't want it because you didn't answer their question before the auction ended.

    - Set your starting bid unreasonably high if you want to increase the chances of selling your item

    Pros and Cons of Ebay

    PROS

    - It's easy and fun

    - You can find just about anything

    - You can get many things much cheaper than in stores

    - You can find rare items with little effort

    - You can make a lot of money if you sell the right items

    CONS

    - It takes a little while to learn how to judge who to buy from and who not to

    - Sometimes items are described inaccurately (such as being called "new" while clearly "used")

    - Sometimes sellers don't ship items as prompt as they should

    - Sometimes items get lost in the mail

Bottom line- Ebay is great, but there is a learning curve. You can make a lot of money, though. I once paid for an entire year of car insurance selling stuffed promo cows that I got for free. On Ebay it's BUYER BEWARE and no matter how careful you are, you never know exactly what you're going to get so each transaction is a gamble.
