What are the documents and requirements for new Malaysian passport in Canberra, Australia?

I am a Malaysian living in Australia. My Malaysian passport have expired. I would like to go to the Malaysian High Commission in Canberra, Australia for getting a new passport. Does anyone know what documents to bring and other requirements eg Fees, document certification etc. Is passport provided the same day? Which day/s does the High Commission process passport application. Thanks

Your current Malaysian International Passport.

Your original Malaysian Identity Card and a photocopy (front and back)

Copy of your Malaysian Birth Certificate / Malaysian Citizenship Certificate/Borang W (for child born abroad).

Three

(3) recent passport sized photograph. See photograph requirements.

Front View

Face appearance must be 1-1/2 in big, excluding shoulder length.

Light Blue (preferred) or White background.

Passport photograph size 2 in x 2 in

No home printed photographs, blurry photographs,

dark background color photographs accepted and please wear proper attire (no sleeveless or

t-shirts).

Please use professional photographing services.

(Do not use instant photo kiosk.)

The Malaysian embassy in Canberra is rather unhelpful on this. I suggest you ring them and ask. I sent them an email a couple of months ago and it took them 3 weeks to get back to me. When I called them they were on a lunch break (apparently they take 2 hour lunch breaks there).

Usually you need your old passport to apply for a new one. Possible documents you'll need are birth certificate, proof of Malaysian citizenship, photo ID.
