  1. You will need a photo ID

    Proof of address

And a Fee to open the account

  2. Proof of address, like a utility bill, also passport or full driver's licence for ID

  3. Are you ready....

    Driving Licence/In date passport

Marriage Certficate/Divorce papers (if you are either)

A money deposit for opening the account as you can't give a chq or other means and possibly you may be charged a fee, but if you are this will be more than likely take out of your account on a monthly basis.

To be sure that you will take the correct papers, speak to the branch directly where you will opening the account, don't call the "general" number that puts you through to a call centre as they very often don't have a clue!

  4. Passport, or Driving licence, proof off address, possible statements of banks that you've have or have had. They may also ask how long you have stayed at your current address

  5. I agree, a photo id and utility bill would be adequate.  In the UK a fee is not required.  There maybe a minimum deposit required to open the account.  Consult the bank in question.  It would be worth looking on moneysupermarket.com to check what are the best current accounts for your circumstances.
