Question:

What are the dog bite dog laws in Connecticut?

My neighbor's dogs constantly roam the neighborhood. Months ago, their dog came into my yard (as usual) while my dog was outside. Their dog attacked my dog. Today, the dog was again in my yard and I let my dog go outside without knowing this. My dog bit my neighbor's dog because he (the neighbor's dog) is constantly on our property. The neighbors agreed last time to keep the dogs on leashes. This lasted for less than two weeks. We are afraid that my dog will kill the neighbor's dog because mine is much bigger and is simply protecting her territory. How can we solve this?

  1. Call the local dog warden NOW (or whatever number people call to report dogs) and let them know this situation exists before a problem happens. This way you will be covered because you tried to resolve it and reported that YOU have a problem. The dog warden can talk to the other people about keeping their dog out of your yard.
