The lake is 120 ft. from the house. I'm not a lake person at all. I'm just wondering what kinds of things I'd have to put up with. Thanks!

  1. Mosquitoes are a big one. If it’s a large lake, noise from boats.

The biggest issues of all though is the potential for flooding. In years with lots of rain, you’d be amazed at how high a lake can rise, especially if it’s dammed anywhere. If you’re on the wrong side of the dam (i.e. the one the side that water gets emptied to) in a rainy season, good luck!

  2. .  A few more bugs when you open your doors.  NOt dangerous bugs but they love the water.  A few more people drifting by as they walk to the lake.  A bit colder in winter.

  3. First I would have to say if you are not a lake person how did you end up living by a lake. Then there is the problem of a beautiful scenic view, plus if you have kids or relatives with kids they mite want to go swimming or canoeing, heaven forbid if it's in a cold climate they mite want to go ice skating. If I were you I would consider myself a very lucky person to have all those amenities in your backyard.

  4. 1) Mosquitoes

    2) Bullfrog and Waterfoul noise

    3) Skinny-dipping Hippies

    4) Giant Hungry Alligators (which may help resolve #2 & #3)
