What are the ducational benifiets of a board game like snakes and ladders for a child?

I was playing it with my daughter this morning and it dawned on me they can learn so much more from a game than from teaching them individual subjects

Children can learn a lot from playing with them. Whatever the game. They learn counting skills, colours, taking turns, sharing, the fun of winning and to loose gracefully. They also learn that they can have fun with you and learn in a fun way making them more willing to learn other things in the future.

Just playing a simple game like this is educational because it teaches us that we can win or lose.  Also not everything has to educational sometimes it's just about having some fun.

It will teach them to count and add it also shows them that they don`t always win and will stop them from going into a paddy when they don`t win
