  1. ALOT! haha I've been a CNA for 3 years now and am going to nursing school in the fall. First off you have to geniunely CARE about the residents your taking care of esp the elderly. If your going to work in a nursing home you're all they've got. I've worked with a ton of aides who can careless about the residents and are only there for a pay check it takes alot more than that (plus its not like they are making boo koo bucks anyways). However the "typical" CNA duties include:

    bathing

    feeding

    dressing

    changing diapers

    toileting

    offering bed pans

    taking and recording vital signs

    turning patients

transfering from/to bed wheelchair toilet etc

    bed changing

    emptying catheters

    charting

    walking patients

Those are the main duties I can think of off the top of my head but Also simple things like taking out trash, straightening up rooms, picking out clothes for the next day/that day, talking to residents/family members helping other CNA's perform their duties as well.

Good Luck in your career hope I've helped!! =)
