  1. These days, their duties are mainly in parliament. However in the middle ages, the duty of a Lord or Lady were to preside over a certain area of land, and generally act as a proxy for the King of Queen at the time. This means that they ran the daily functions of their land and usually acted as a judge in cases of disputes.

It depends on what kind of jobs they hold!Bearing the title of "Lord" or "Lady" doesn't mean that they don't hold down regular jobs.Not all titled aristocracy have jobs at Buckingham Palace so many hold jobs like the rest of the world. Not all lords and ladies have titles that come with income-generating lands,and those that do would do whatever it takes to run an estate.

    If the lord or lady won a seat in Parliament they would be politicians.
