  1. Keep the ratio, keep count of all kids in the room, and be prepared for anything to happen.

I know the preschool I worked in for years had all the staff CPR & First aid trained so that we would not have to go find someone in the case of an emergency.

  2. ~Legally: Childrens Act, Every Child Matters Framework, OFSTED-National Care Standards, setting policies

~To have atleast one trained coordinator for Safe Guarding issues

~Accident Form/Incident Forms to be filled in and kept confidentual

~Support best interest of the child

~Activities to support learning to protect ourselves.

~Be aware of signs and symptons of abuse,

~Trained in first aid, health and safety etc.

    ~Aware of medical, dietary needs.

    Go to http://www.everychildmatters.gov.uk/

Also try buying an NVQ based book it will have all these answers in for you.

  3. Health and Safetypolicy in place and followed.

All staff to be CRB checked

    Staff/child ratio correct

Risk assessment carried out on premises daily.

large equipment checked for safety regularly

Small equipment checked each time used

Kitchen areas locked and out of bounds

Doors have remote entry and a visitors book kept

Windows to have child proof locks

Fire equipment regularly checked and in sufficient amounts

First aid boxes checked and kept up to date

First aiders kept up to date with certs and names posted where all can see.

Fire drills/emergency drills carried out regularly.

All outside areas well fenced/gated and locked when children access.

Outside areas have risk assessments carried out each day

  4. Your duties are to the child first they should be central to practice... you should consider safety in an emergancy and keeping them safe so CRB checks.... always making sure 2 members of staff are present at all times.....door locks ect hope that helps

  5. risk assessment is done at preschool and its not just with the children its also who maybe at the door, who may come in that day so all adults are told who is visiting today and also the door will have a chain on so that is safe to open the door also when the children come in they are sign in and also there is two members of staff in the morning and after the sessions.  Also all adults that are dealing with children are CRB and thoroughly checked with references follow through that what our preschool does i not sure what other preschool does but we are all ofsted as well and they will check up on  everything which is within the ofsted report and these are available to any one who is interested in one you can go on the website on education and there will be answers to many questions that you may want answer good luck

  6. OK this won't earn me any brownie points but...

go to www.naeyc.org which should give you a good answer.
