  1. honestly i would GOOGLE it. there are many different types of starfish (or "seastar" when ppl want to be tecnical). and they all require different care.

try an apple star. they are nice to look at. and having a salt tank requires little more patience and more money than a F/W (freshwater)tank. do some research and read some books before starting one up. because it can be EXTREMELY frustrating setting one up withour doing the proper research.

anyways. apple stars are kind of a scavenger and would eat things like brine shrimp, krill, ect. others like a bristtle star, is kind of creepy, cuz it moves like a spider. very cool but can be more predatory. those are fun to feed. lol. but like i said google them and u will see the varieties of seastars.

    good luck and have fun.

  2. idk

  3. Also called sea stars,They hunt for shelled animals such as oysters, clams. They have 2 stomachs, One for digestion, other can be extended  outward to engulf prey. This allows the star fish to eat larger foods which mouth wont.Starfish are able to regenerated another arm if one is lost.(COOL).

Most species are predators some eating clams and oysters or any animal too slow to evade the attack, some species are detritivores eating decomposed animal and plant materials or organic films attached to substrate's.

The others may consume coral plops, sponges, even suspended particles and plankton's.

There are about 1,800 know en species in all of the Earths oceans.Habitats range from tropical coral reefs, kelp forests to deep sea floors.

All species of starfish  found are living as benthons. They need a delicate balance in their body's. NO starfish are found in ANY fresh water environments.

So its best to return the one you say you have or It will die since it would be hard to know what type you have and what requirements for food to keep alive so please return to where you got the poor starfish.

  4. call a local fish store and ask them i would let it go if you didn,t buy it because it may have germs that will kill other fish.
