There are no effects. You just witness a document that is being registered. You witness that all parties have signed in your presence.

You are not a guarantor.

At the most, in case of fraud, you may be called in court to give witness i.e. recognise the person who signed in your presence. But the chances are remote if you know the person well for whom you are staying witness.
