I know that burning coal majorly contributes to global warming, but I'd like to know the extent to which it is detrimental. If someone is to have a birthday bonfire and keep the bonfire going for a few hours, are they inflicting extreme harm on the environment?

  1. You will probably be burning wood, right?  Go ahead and have your bonfire, you won't be adding any additional carbon to the carbon cycle (that's what fossil fuels do).

  2. No. There is much less carbon emissions from them than when people like Al Gore open their mouths. Such fruitcakes should be exiled to Siberia, if they like freezing weather.

  3. No effect since the carbon being released from the wood was taken out of the air as the tree grew. Wood is a bio fuel. The oldest bio fuel. Bio fuels are better than fossil fuels because they were made from carbon taken out of the air, so burning them does not cause any net increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide. This is also the reason trees are no good at making oxygen or removing carbon dioxide from the air. Because they just give back all the carbon dioxide and take back all the oxygen when they die, and trees do not live forever. They live a long time compared to a person, but not long enough for the world's air.

  4. No, that's just 1 bonfire out of many. Despite that, Man really contributes only about 3.5% of the carbon emissions. Nature does the rest. Besides, carbon isn't the predominant greenhouse gas. Gaseous H2O is. Global warming is all natural. It has happened throughout history. Why is Greenland called "green?" It was when it was called that. Remember the iceberg in the Atlantic that sank the Titanic? It's natural. Let nature happen.

  5. smoke is bad for the air if there is to much of it and a lot depends on what you burn ,plastics styrofoam then

tires are the worst ,then oil and coal
