Well like anywhere else the big danger is of failing infrastructure...If buildings and other structures start to fall down the destruction would be enormous.  On top of that if the earthquake occurs in a coastal area you might have tsunami to deal with.  

Since india is one of the most populated areas in the world casualties and fatalities would be enormous.
