What are the effects on a tv picture if the signal is too strong ?

  1. It is very rare to see the effects of signal overload on modern TVs ! Used to be common in the 60s and early 70s , the condition displayed as " sound on vision "  which meant that bars or lines flickered on and off the screen according to the sound !, Doing TV service in home then involved carry round a bag full of different size attenuators which fitted into the coax lead to the TV . These days TVs have efficient AGC systems ( automatic gain control ) so it would be very rare to see signal overload ( except maybe if you live next door the TV Transmitter ) .
