I just started my full time job (recent colelge grad) and some of my other coworkers invited me out with them. I am sure just asking them would solve this problem but I'm wonderign if it is right or wrong or doesn't even matter if I'd brign a friend along with me? The deal is the ppl inviteing me out are 3 girls, or, women, all married, and, they were bein ncei invitin me, the new guy, otu wit them...and I don't wnna seem like I am not itnerested in socializign with my new coworkers

  1. Here's another piece of advice.  Many times, when coworkers get together outside the office, someone starts a gossip-fest or a gripe-fest.  And believe me, once people start drinking, they talk way too much.  If you want a good reputation in your company, if you want to keep your job, if you want to be considered in the future for promotions - when the gossiping and griping begin, you will say "Good night, ladies" AND LEAVE.

Don't hang around and listen.  Don't contribute.  Don't even agree with something someone else has said.

Remember, when you go drinking with your coworkers, or party with your coworkers, or just simply hang out with your coworkers, you are opening up your outside life to becoming company gossip.  Don't ever do or say anything in the presence of a coworker that you would not also do or say in front of your supervisor, the next manager in the company you might want to work for, the human resources people, the president of the company, the worst gossip in the company, or your mother.

  2. No, Don't bring a friend.

Use this time to get to know your co-workers, it sounds like they asked you out to get to know you.

Only drink liquor if they do...

  3. I would bring my friend along, the more the merrier right?! Im sure they wont mind, it will probably make you feel more comfortable, which makes for a better time anyways. Just dont ignore them and only pay attention to your friend!
