  1. The opera can only be seen by either

    - a concert or event (http://www.cmbv.com/fr/event/fsevent.htm for the concerts and events)

    - a guided tour which you may book in advance (via telephone and if not acrowded day on the same day of your visit but that may mean taking a chance

"Guided tours cover parts of the chateau not open to independent visits: the private apartments of Louis XV, Louis XVI, and Marie-Antoinette, the Opera House, the Chapel Royal, the Groves, and so on.

The variety of subjects addressed-ranging from a straightforward visit of the premises (on a daily basis) to thematic cycles-make it possible for visitors to deepen their knowledge of Versailles.

Tickets for daily tours of the premises must be reserved on the day, at the chateau itself, starting from 9am. Since tickets are limited, you are advised to head for Entrance D as soon as you arrive.

Tickets for thematic tours should be reserved in advance by telephone, on (33-1) 30 83 77 89.

The average length of a guided tour is 90 minutes.

Ticket prices vary depending on the length of the tour."

  2. The Opera at the Chateau is opened at the same times as the Chateau generally as far as I know.

The  Chateau is open every day except Mondays, on certain French public holidays, or when official ceremonies are held.

EDIT: I've looked at the official website and I can't find any announcement about it.
