  1. SFT places emphasis on function, interdependence, consensus, equilibrium, and evolutionary change.

    Functionalist view of education:

    Transmission of culture through (socialization)

Prepares adults for adulthood  (social integration)

Provides pathways into the structure of society (social placement)

Increases the number of educated individuals in society (cultural innovation)

    Functionalist view of social stratification:

Inequality is inevitable and necessary for society as a whole

Society is ranked by order of importance

    Functionalist view of politics:

Government enforces norms, and regulates conflict

    Government plans and coordinates activity

Government conducts dealings with other societies

  2. A good example is law... it has many facets that make up a functional  society.... Lets see, police, lawyers, criminals,,judges etc... They are all apart  justice field in some type of way... they each have their roll in the  justice system ...and together they form a body with each independent part, doing it's part...  This is functionalism in a whole...Like a hand, each finger doing it's job in order to make it be a hand... now remember that each part works separately or independently, but  because of  their work they form a whole..

Think of congress... how each house does checks and balances.... but together they make up the government...
