With genetic engineering we might be able to generate almost any biomedical product.

That is not unique to marine life. It is more a matter of scanning many different life forms to find one that comes close to start, might adapt well to mutation.

Without induced mutation, we have the same search for any naturally occurring molecule we could need. And again, it would not be limited to marine life.
