  2. convenience (both on route, and easy ingress/egress)

    price

    service (both customer oriented and speed of)

    bonus program affinity (like exxon and upromise)

    ammenities (coffee/bread/etc) - very low on my list, but many find it invaluable.

    i won't cross a highway to save $.02/gal, but i might for $.05.  also like my speed pass, no credit card to pull out, and good records online, so typically i use exxon or mobile.  the speed pass is hooked to my discover road card, which give me 5% back on my first $100 of fuel (any station) each month, and then 1% after, and exxon kicks $.01/gal into my kids college account - so a $2.80/gal -> 2.65 for me at exxon/mobile.

    i also don't like stations attached to shopping centers, just seems like an accident waiting to happen.
