  1. The CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway) was built with the idea of economic advancement. The railway was designed to go from the east to west coast, as the coasts were where there was a lot of economic "boom" when the railway was needed. Since many people travelled by water, the coasts had many people who had just immigrated there, and the coasts were becoming quite prosperous.

The previous answerer made a good note about the weather and land here in Canada. Canada gets extreme weather conditions - both very hot and very cold depending on where we're located. Buses and cars have been made to adapt to our climate over the years. Before moving to Canada I had never seen cars that have "plug ins" on them so the car can start the next morning of it is extremely cold here. You can plug your car into an outlet to keep the engine from becoming too cold.

Initially when the highways and roads were built, they were designed with the idea that they would surround cities and towns, and assist in the economic development of Canada.

In big cities like Calgary and Toronto, their subway and city trains were developed simply to make it easier for residents to get around in their ever growing cities. Public transportation needs to be made accessible in large cities - especially with large traffic wait times and the rising prices of gasoline.

This seems to be a homework assignment. What in particular are you studying? Are you studying economic advancement in Canada or just transportation in general?

  2. Factors are a very large country, with tough environment (weather, forests) and big obstacles (mountains) for a very  small population to pay for it.
