A weird alternative history theory has it that the Merovingian dynasty was descended from Jesus Christ, which would make any people with traceable ancestry to that family a descendant of David... not that it would make them royals of any sort, as Jesus descent from David is rather indirect, and there are no lineal descendants from the Merovingians.

I King Menelik and Ras Tafari Haile Selassie claimed descent from David through Salomon's children by the Queen of Sheba. Their surviving kin (I know there are still Selassies around, and they use Jewish first names) would be David descended too.
