We will be having our oral recitation next week and we are asked to dress according to our chosen Greek god/goddess and deliver some of their famous lines. I've been looking for one for days now and I still can't find anything. Any suggestions?

  1. Famous lines?  They aren't characters in a movie that you can quote, they are deities.  Your best bet would be to quote a poem about Nyx, Theogony of Heseid is a good early work with many mentions of Nyx.

  2. Can't find any quotations by your chosen Greek goddess, Nyx, the symbol of the Night, but she is an interesting choice..

According to the Greek writer Hesiod in his "Theogony", Nyx, was the daughter of Chaos, and the mother of fifteen children, including Hypnos (sleep) and Thanatos (death).  Nyx and her children lived in a gloomy house in Tartarus, in the depths of Hades' Underworld.  Nyx was also the mother of Hemera, the Day, but they only crossed paths when Nyx left her for her nightly journey and on the way met her daughter returning home.
