I'm wondering what the fines are for bringing fireworks from the USA to Canada. Like what do they do if they find firework when they search you, are you arrested? are you fined? etc.

  1. Fines?  While Canadian prisons aren't on average as nasty as the ones south of the border you really don't want to go there.

Why would you want to smuggle them in? - you can buy fireworks in Canada.

  2. Uh....hello......how about this...... why not just buy the fireworks  IN CANADA?!?!?!  We Do sell them here you know.

  3. Check the link for "Explosives, fireworks and ammunition" on the website referenced.

  4. If you change your terminology to the proper terms you might get a better idea of what you are talking about.  When you say "bringing fireworks" switch it to "smuggling explosives" and think what the penalty is.  They are likely to seize everything - your vehicle and all the contents and you are left to find an alternate way home.  Especially if they catch you lying about it.  If it looks more like a mistake and you don't have much, they just might take the fireworks.

I had my car searched once, and they found one screacher that I had bought in Canada and forgot was there.  They seemed to want to make a big deal out of that but just let it go and I still had the firework.  lol.  But saw on the news a guy who did about the same thing as far as he had it with him and forgot it was in his truck.  The difference was he had altered the firework and they seized everything.

  5. My nefarious canadian exhusband arranged for the fireworks to be in my car - titled in my name only.  I am an American woman.  Based on the success of my canadian exhusband's scam, I would say that you should marry an honest American woman and ask her [lovingly, of course] to bring his young son from his previous  marriage [well, he SAID he was divorced - duh, I believed him!] some really fun fireworks.  I did that because I really loved that kid, Liam, and he loved me.   duh

  6. before 9-11 you may have gotten away with it but I would not want to even think about it now unless I was looking for free room and board at the nearest lock-up. Border people from both sides are slow to see any humour in this type of behaviour and especially in this case, Ignorance of the law is not a defense.
