  1. Well, according to an astronomer, spring starts on March 21 or 22, summer starts on June 21 or 22, fall starts on September 21 or 22, and winter starts on December 21 or 22.  These dates mark the time the Earth is in a certain position relative to the sun.  In the summer, the Northern Hemisphere is closest to the sun, and in the winter the farthest away.  The opposite is true from the Southern Hemisphere.  In the spring and the fall, both hemispheres are the same distance away from the sun, recieving just as much sun that day.

Meteorologists, however define the seasons differently.  Basically, a season starts when it feels like that season. This obviously  varies in different parts of the world.  For example, it could be March 23 in Minnesota, but if there's still a foot of snow on the ground and its only 20 degrees outside for the high temp, that still is considered winter.
